2022 Home Decor and Design Trends

Neutral & Natural Shades

1. Neutral & Natural Shades

Neutral and natural colours are always in style. However, we expect to see even more of these hues in the coming year.

Grey, beige, white, and brown with warm or rich undertones as wall paint colours are becoming more popular in home architecture. As individuals want a Zen-like vibe at home, therefore we'll see more green shades and natural earth hues in the latest design.

We're more inclined to create a tranquil environment after a year (or more) of living and working at home. This lends itself to neutral tones naturally.
Nature-inspired colours and textures, such as blues, greens, rich/deep reds, and grounded earth tones, will become more common in furniture and decorative components.

Green & Pink Accents

2. Green & Pink Accents

Color, on the other hand, hasn't been forgotten. It's all about greens and pinks, but not in the manner you've seen them before.

It all makes sense when you consider colour psychology and human behavioural needs as we transition to endemic living—these green hues are soothing and signal safety to the brain, while deep pinks in muted palettes radiate warmth and comfort—all of which meet the basic needs we are starving for post-pandemic.

Biophilic Design

3. Biophilic Design

The development in nature-based or biophilic designs can also be related to the concentration on green hues in 2022 home décor trends. As we approach 2022, living plants are getting even more popular, whether the intention is to bring nature inside or merely to freshen the environment with natural hues.

The application of biophilic design ideas will continue to be a focus on recovering our connection to the natural world. The use of natural lighting and air, as well as the incorporation of plants and the creation of a visual link with nature, are all used to create relaxing settings.

Plant-focused design, nature-themed walls or aesthetics, or physically bringing plants in can all help to establish a connection with nature.

Curved Furniture

4. Curved Furniture

As we approach 2022, curved furniture is the newest style in furniture.
This past year, the curved furniture trend exploded, reviving a timeless mid-century aesthetic that stretches back to the 1960s and 1970s.

We believe that more people will embrace the idea of curved objects, whether it's in the form of mirrors, kitchen islands, or statement furniture like barrel back chairs.

Sustainable Materials

5. Sustainable Materials

People are understanding the benefits of incorporating energy-efficient products into their environments as a method to reduce heating and lighting costs, therefore eco-friendly materials will be more popular than ever before.

There is a greater emphasis on sustainability in furniture, goods, lighting, and how we design our spaces now than ever before.

Reclaimed, repurposed, and ethically sourced materials will rise in popularity over time, especially when younger generations who have been active in the sustainability movement begin to buy and renovate their own houses.

Luxurious Textiles

6. Luxurious Textiles

The trend of incorporating textiles will assist to balance the neutral and warm tones in interiors, giving them a more sophisticated air.

Beautiful textiles will be a standard in adding colour, texture, and depth to a space, in addition to warm colours. Although monochromatic white designs are still popular, there is a growing interest in the warmer, richer colours that textiles can provide to a space.

Layering multiple textiles (on a bed, for example) or utilising different materials as accents are simple ways to do this. Don't be shocked if some of your grandmother's favourite designs and fabrics, such as velvet, make a comeback.

Multifunctional Spaces & Furniture

7. Multifunctional Spaces & Furniture

The focus on versatile spaces, furniture, rooms, and products is one of the 2022 home décor ideas that designers are most enthusiastic about.
In 2022, multifunctional rooms will be trendy, and they will most likely be here to stay. Being at home for months on end allowed many people (especially design lovers) to recognise how they use each space in their home and what new uses they could add to a single room.

Many people, including homeowners and designers, are rethinking how spaces are created and what it means to be multipurpose.

Home design is evolving to take a more balanced approach to remodelling and expanding to accommodate the demands of families. It was carving out home offices and study rooms last year; this year, I believe it's more of a larger picture assessment of how we might make our homes more of an oasis where we WANT to spend more time there.

Along with the concept of multifunctionality comes a focus on statement items and multifunctional furniture, which is especially important if you rent or live in a small area.
Furniture with many functions is perfect for those who live in tiny places. Quality versatile furniture is adaptable to a variety of living conditions, whether you are downsizing or not.
