Kitchen Sinks - Ceramic or Stainless Steel?

Consider Your Lifestyle!
When we think of designing our kitchens, we mostly think about how nice it would be to cook in. However, one often overlooked factor is the cleaning experience. For experienced home cooks, you know how easily and quickly pots and pans can build up in the sink. On the other hand, if you just cook every once in a while, this may not be as much of an issue.
If you think you're going to be washing a LOT of dishes regularly, you might consider opting for a stainless steel sink as you can get a larger stainless steel sink for the same price as a standard sized ceramic sink. If you think you can manage your dishes well, then most would agree that a ceramic sink is a better choice from an aesthetic viewpoint.
For those with a more generous budget, getting a ceramic sink for the dry kitchen and a stainless steel sink for the wet kitchen is a very popular combination!

Form or Function?
There's a reason stainless steel sinks are still the number one choice for restaurant kitchens everywhere. They're very durable and very versatile when it comes to custom size and fit options. Stainless steel sinks are also very resistant to stains and rust so they're easy to clean and maintain - even the harshest sponges and brushes would have trouble scratching them!
Then again, if you're looking to make your kitchen stand out and look more aesthetically pleasing, you'll find that ceramic sinks come in a variety of cuts and finishes as well. It's a great option to those wanting striking accent colours in their home. Another underrated aspect is sound! Water striking the surface of ceramic is much smoother and gentler than the harsh sounds of water against steel. It is a bit tougher to install ceramic sinks but I think you'll find that it is worth the effort.

Money... talks?
Budgeting is one of the least fun things to think about but it is one of the most important factors we need to consider. That being said, tight budgets can also be a source of great creative inspiration! It helps you think about your priorities very clearly. Stainless steel is cheaper than ceramic - that's a fact - but it doesn't mean ceramics are completely out of the question!
"How can I maximise the size without compromising on the aesthetics?" you might think to yourself. You might want to try different cuts of sinks like flush-mount and undermount sinks which may eat into your countertop budget too. There's an endless combination of sinks and we want you to be satisfied with what you choose.
